Florida Marriage License Made Simple — From Anywhere
We handle your Florida marriage license in absentia from start to finish, so you don’t have to visit a Clerk’s office in person. Simple, guided, and done right—so all you have to do is show up and get married.
How It Works
This is a quick overview of the process. As soon as you complete your payment, you’ll receive detailed step-by-step instructions.
1. Complete Your Application
We provide you with a special marriage license application to fill out.
2. We Submit It for You
We submit your completed application to our local Clerk of the Courts to begin the process.
3. Sign Your License & Mail It Back
Once your license is issued, it will be emailed to you. We’ll schedule a Zoom call to review your documents and guide you through the signing process. After your signatures are witnessed, you will mail the signed documents back to us.
4. We Finalize Everything
We return your signed license to the Clerk’s Office so it can be officially recorded and validated.
5. You’re Ready for Your Wedding
We’ll send the finalized marriage license to you or directly to your officiant—whichever you prefer.
FAQ’s + Answers
Do we need to be in Florida to get our Florida marriage license?
No. Our in absentia service allows you to obtain your Florida marriage license without traveling to the state beforehand.
Who can get married in Florida?
Any adult 18 years of age or older can get married in Florida. U.S. citizens must provide a valid government-issued ID and Social Security number. Non-U.S. citizens must present a valid passport. If you have been previously married, you will need to provide the exact date your last marriage ended.
If you are not a Florida resident, there is no waiting period. Florida residents have a three-day waiting period unless they complete a premarital course.
Will my marriage license obtained in absentia be legal anywhere in Florida?
Yes. Only a few Counties in Florida offer the absentia process and the Lake County Clerk of the Courts —where we obtain licenses—does allow it. Once issued, your Florida marriage license is valid anywhere in the state.
How long does the process take?
Most licenses are completed within 4–5 weeks, depending on how quickly you return your notarized documents. We recommend starting at least 60 days before your wedding. If your wedding is less than 30 days away, we can still accommodate your request; however, a rush fee will apply. Please contact us first for availability and a custom quote.
Do we both need to sign the application?
Yes. Both parties must complete and sign the application. You will receive detailed instructions on how we go about doing the signatures.
After we are done, how do I receive the valid marriage license?
Once finalized, your marriage license will be mailed directly to your Florida Officiant to ensure it is available on your wedding day. At that point, our service is complete, and your Officiant will take over responsibility for the license, including presenting it at the ceremony and returning it to the Clerk’s Office after it has been signed.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, your Officiant is responsible for completing the marriage license and returning it to the Clerk’s Office using a pre-addressed envelope we provide. The Clerk will then record your marriage and mail you a complimentary certified copy as your official marriage certificate.
How long will it take to receive our certificate after the ceremony?
Approximately 3–4 weeks.
How can we obtain additional copies of our certificate?
You can request additional certified copies directly from the Clerk of the Courts or through the State’s Vital Statistics office.
Can international couples use this service?
Yes! This service is perfect for both U.S. and international couples getting married in Florida.
